Windy City Warriors

The Windy City Warriors Wheelchair Sports teams are a part of the Western Dupage Special Recreation Association.  WDSRA serves more than 8,000 people of all ages with disabilities in over 1,000 annual recreation programs.  For the past 10 years the Windy City Warriors have been at the top of their game in wheelchair basketball.

The Warriors have won 3 Illinois High School championships in the wheelchair basketball division in 2004, 2006 and 2007.  The first ever state championship for wheelchair basketball was in 2004.   Each year the Warriors have set a goal to reach the Junior Nationals for wheelchair basketball to compete against junior teams from across the United States.

The Warriors junior wheelchair softball team placed 1st at last years National Wheelchair Softball tournament in Saint Paul Minnesota.

For those with ANY kind of physical impairment, we’ve got a sport for you!  Our programs are designed to increase physical ability, provide the opportunity to participate in competitive sports, and gain a ton of new friends.

Adapted Sports offered by WDSRA: Wheelchair Basketball, Wheelchair Tennis, Wheelchair Softball, Wheelchair Track and Field, Powerlifting, Sled Hockey

Boccia, Power Soccer, Miracle Field Baseball, Swimming, and Golf

Try an adapted sport today!

To be eligible for play in adapted sports, a player must have an irreversible lower extremity disability, such as paralysis, amputation, radiological evidence of limb shortening, partial to full joint alkalosis or joint replacement, which consistently interferes with functional mobility. Findings such as soft tissue contracture, ligamentous instability, edema or disuse atrophy, or symptoms such as pain or numbness, without other objective findings shall not be considered a permanent lower extremity disability.
