WDSRA Launches Special Olympics Young Athlete Program

WDSRA proudly launches the exciting new Young Athletes program through Special Olympics Illinois geared to children ages 2-7 years old. WDSRA is the first in the area to offer this program. Until now, children were not eligible to participate in a Special Olympics program until age 8.
The Young Athletes program is an innovative sports play program for children ages 2-7 with intellectual disabilities along with their siblings and their peers, designed to introduce them to the world of sports. This program will prove enormously beneficial on multiple levels including helping children improve physically, cognitively and socially. Activities will consist of foundational skills, walking & running, balance & jumping, trapping & catching, throwing, striking, kicking and advanced skills.
