WDSRA is an extension of nine park districts, which also make up the board of directors. These nine agencies have a vested interest in our agency since it's their residents who participate in our programs and services.
Our agency works closely with the staff from these nine districts in many ways:
Inclusion Services: If someone with special needs would prefer to participate in their hometown's park district class rather than WDSRA, we can assist the park district staff with either training on the individual's needs for the class, or provide an additional staff or interpreter when needed. WDSRA's goal is to build towards an individual's independence in their local park district, recreation department or community program.
Facilities for Programs: Most WDSRA programs take place in member districts' facilities (gymnasiums, swimming pools, community centers, etc.)
