Inclusion

WDSRA is committed to providing a variety of recreation and leisure choices for individuals who have special needs. We believe that all individuals should be provided with leisure opportunities that allow for performance at their highest level of ability. WDSRA recognizes that park district or recreation department programs may be the best choice for individuals and that they may best meet individual needs. To facilitate successful participation, WDSRA works cooperatively with member agencies throughout the inclusion process.

Our professional staff can assist you in choosing an appropriate program, providing referral services, conducting necessary staff training, securing support staff, securing adaptive equipment or securing other accommodations which might be deemed necessary.

Some of our most frequently asked questions about inclusion are answered here.

March 2010--WDSRA Partners with National Inclusion Project

National Inclusion Project logo

WDSRA is proud to partner with the National Inclusion Project to support inclusion services for Before and After School Programs offered through our partnering Park Districts.

The partnership is for the 2010-11 school year and is part of their “Let’s All Play” effort to promote inclusion services. The National Inclusion Project provides services and financial assistance to promote the full inclusion of children with disabilities into the life environment of those without.  They strive to create awareness about the diversity of individuals with disabilities and the possibilities that inclusion can bring.

More information about the National Inclusion Project can be found at www.inclusionproject.org.
