WDSRA conducts Disability Awareness programs which are structured for the general population in order to heighten their sensitivity to people with special needs. Through hands-on activities, individuals learn what being disabled means. The disability awareness training will teach you:

  • How to interact with someone who has a disability Boy in wheelchair playing basketball
  • How to reduce the fear of the unknown
  • Proper terminology to use
  • How to recognize a person's abilities

Disability awareness training will build a friendly environment and is tailored to each group. Disabilities that may be covered include:  Physical Challenges, Visual Impairments, Hearing Impairments, Developmental Delays, Speech Impairments or Mental Health Challenges.

WDSRA staff will visit your business or organization to conduct training. Please contact Dori Sonaco at
the WDSRA office for further information.
